Time to True Up your BWC Policy

IMPORTANT NOTICE! The 2016 policy year payroll true-up period for private employers has begun. Payroll true-up reports are to be completed online no later than Aug. 15, 2017.

The annual payroll true-up allows you to reconcile your estimated payroll with your actual payroll, which may result in either an additional premium billing or a premium credit.  Even if your payroll for the year matches the estimate, BWC provided, or you had zero payroll, you must complete a true-up report.

Rebate to Ohio Employers in July

Most rebates will equal 66% of the employer’s premium for the policy year ending June 30, 2016. BWC will begin sending checks in early July.


Employers in the group-retro program will have their rebate amount calculated and paid following the 12-month premium calculation scheduled to occur in October 2017


BWC Now Offers Coverage for Your Employees in Other States

While BWC generally provides coverage for employees working temporarily outside of Ohio, complications can arise when the injured worker files a claim in another state. Treatment can be delayed and businesses can be subject to penalties by the other state. 



Elimination of Mandatory Coverage for Volunteer Corporate Officers of Nonprofit Corporations

Effective Sept. 29, 2015, BWC will no longer consider volunteer corporate officers of nonprofit corporations to be employees for purposes of workers' compensation. Therefore, BWC will no longer require nonprofits to pay premiums for these volunteers.
